COMPLETELY REVAMPED IN 2019 In 2018, there were no written response questions on the state test for Government, so I decided to update my practice test to convert the essay questions to multiple choice questions. But then I got carried away and changed it up completely! It still uses Google Forms filled with questions from the state AIR tests that have been released over the years, and it still has a built-in answer key to grade it automatically when students submit it. This is a helpful practice test for the American History AIR Test given in Ohio. This AIR practice test is designed to be a simple way for students to review for the AIR test. I made a Google Form with over 50 questions from released test materials for the AIR Test. About the store

Experience

I started teaching in 2005 as a substitute teacher for all subjects and grade levels before getting two long-term sub placements. I began teaching Civics and World Studies full-time in 2007. I now teach senior government, and two Dual Enrollment courses (college classes taught in high school): Advanced Government and Western Civilization.

Teaching style

I use my own passion for the subject to generate student interest (if you aren't pumped to be there, they won't be either)! I make my courses incredibly challenging, but I counterbalance the rigor with playfulness (e.g. dad jokes) regularly. I make myself available to my students to help guide them through the difficult material of historical documents.

Awards & shining teacher moments

Recipient of the Teaching American History Grant from the US Dept. of Education (2008-2011). James Madison Fellowship Honorable Mention. Recipient of the National Consortium for Teaching about Asia (NCTA) grant (2013).

My own education history

Bachelor of Science in Education from Ohio University Master of Arts in American History and Government from Ashland University

Additional biographical information

I found that most of the worksheets and lessons out there weren't very useful to me, so I create a lot of stuff on my own. My activities are highly customizable to fit your needs. Much of the work I put into it is centered on searching through primary source documents and excerpting them down to sizes that are more manageable for students to tackle. Generally, the worksheets that come with my textbooks aren't challenging enough to hit the full gamut of student abilities, and I try to have a wide array of questions that can push students of all abilities. If you've also been frustrated with the lack of quality and rigor, I hope you find something worthwhile in my store!
