Proficient Teaching

Metacognition or learning how we learn is the buzz word at the moment. Aside from introducing this idea to your pupils and pondering what sort of learner you are yourself! you will need some sort of tool for reference in class. I have devised these posters to use prior to the class starting work. They have grown aware of their capabilities and I cannot recommend their use enough.

I’ve created these 6 worksheets for the basic fact that I couldn’t find many resources on the topics covered. Internet safety is such a broad spectrum, I have focused on the following in these. Picture puzzles are an excellent way to introduce the part – part – whole aspect of Singapore Maths, missing digits e.e. 145 + __ = 193, pre-algebra thinking and can be used to develop logical thinking with halving and subtraction. The numbers were chosen to be used in K3 4 i.e. halving 3 digit numbers (e.g. 176) and borrowing when subtracting 3 digit – 2 digit (e.g. 263 – 87). However, if they not aren’t used to these types of visual problems, they can be used much later to introduce algebra.

9 posters to introduce digital citizenship and internet safety in a child friendly way, covering a variety of issues with slogans e.g. adult supervision = wise decision.

I’ve created these 4 worksheets and a poster in response to the new digital competence framework and for the fact that I couldn’t find many resources myself. Making the jump from learning table facts and dividing with remainders can be difficult for some children. I developed these coloring sheets to support those finding it difficult. I love that the class are enjoying themselves and not realizing that they are learning. Those who are struggling always ask for help too as they see no shame it misunderstanding a coloring in task.
