Experience
I have taught a total of 17 years as an elementary Intervention Specialist. I am currently working in a second and third grade reading inclusion classroom and creating simple interventions that other teachers can use to help accommodate or support students within the classroom. I have taught first grade as well as having my own pull-out classrooms for grades K-6.
Teaching style
I believe that all students can work within the general education classroom with simple accommodations and adjusting work to fit their learning style. Repetition and working at the students level is key for success. You must create that trust between your student and build their confidence before you can make a difference in their learning. I believe that all students can be successful with a little change here and there in any level of curriculum. It is my job to take the grade level standard and create interventions that form pathways to success.
Awards & shining teacher moments
No honor or award is greater than a student who is making success under your teaching.
My own education history
I attended Ball State University where I got my Elementary K-4 License. I continued on and got my masters in Special Education K-12 after one year in the classroom. Once I came back to Ohio, I got my 4th and 5th grade endorsement.
Additional biographical information
I have 2 kids and a loving husband. I am currently creating a 3 book reread intervention that will help my students with their phonics skills, fluency and comprehension in one.
