These three polygon activities concentrate on reinforcing the attitibutes of each shape. The activities are common core aligned (5.G.3) and student centered. "Polygon Attribute Match Three": has the students matching three cards - a shape card, a name card, and a card with the list of attributes. "Guess My Shape": has students using clues to guess the correct polygon. "Classifying Polygons": has the student listing all the ways they can classify a particular polygon. #myfavoritethings2014

Get your students moving with Twisted Scoot. These task cards are created to use in a "twisted" scoot game that is half scoot, half scavenger hunt. Students complete the task cards and then using the answers, they "hunt" around the room for letters that help them solve the riddle at the bottom of their record sheet. This worksheet is made to be used with snap cubes. The students use 20 snap cubes to create as many rectangular prisms as they can.The activity is geared to help the students make a connection between the chart and the algorithm. It also reinforces the concept that different shapes can have the same volume. This activity is aligned with C.C. 5.MD.3. It can be used for whole group instruction or in a center.
