I am a passionate teacher committed to developing the whole student in science/STEM and SEL. I have over 25 years of high school teaching experience and two professional licences for the state of Massachusetts in the fields of Biology and Chemistry. I have a BS in Biochemistry from Northeastern and my Masters in Chemistry from the University of Maryland. I am certified to teach grades 5-12 and as a long-time AP Science teacher, I continue to update my curriculum vitae, renew my training with AP Summer Institutes and I have even worked in the past as an AP test grader. Courses that I have taught include AP Biology (18 years) and for the past 7 years, I have been teaching all of my school's sections of AP Environmental Science. Over my career I have taught all levels of High School Biology, College Prep and Honors Chemistry, Honors Environmental Issues and Conservation, Marine Biology, Anatomy, and College Prep and Honors Physics. For 21 of my 26 years teaching, I have remained in the same high school in Massachusetts. Having such a "home base" has given me an incredible opportunity to build continuity and enhance my lessons each year. I teach several electives in my high school to which I wrote the curriculum; these courses (Habitats & Species alongside Marine Science) are instructed using Project-Based-Learning. Much of my continued professional development is in the area of PBL and authentic assessments and I have many products that fit the PBL design available in my store.
