About the store

Experience

I taught English to ages 12 through 18 in the U.K. for 27 years. During this time, I had extensive experience as an examination marker and moderator. In 2002, I began teaching at Vanguard High School in Ocala, Florida. Most of my teaching there was in the International Baccalaureate program. I retired in July 2012.

Teaching style

In my classroom, I stressed the critical reading of texts. Students were encouraged to speculate and take risks to expand their ideas and responses. Groups discussion was at the heart of my teaching of literature.

Awards & shining teacher moments

Frequently (4 times) nominated for Teacher of the Year at Vanguard High in Ocala 2002-2012, but never actually made it!
