Here's the Keynote version of my Evaluate Expressions Lesson for anyone interested in editing/adding to/or animating. Works great on a Smart Board or Promethean. Enjoy and get them their math!

Assign in Canvas or Google Classroom or Teams and project on your Promethean or Smart Board. I hope your students enjoy as much as I do. I like to bring volunteers to the board to simplify and ask their classmates to watch for mistakes and compare answers. Aligned with Edgenuity. Lesson works well when I share my screen on Zooms and work through the expressions. Have some fun with it!

I ask students to make these lists when simplifying non-perfect roots OR I just post this colorful list in Google Classroom for them to reference.

I've taught hundreds of kids that feel like they don't remember where to begin when solving equations. This lesson is designed to help them understand their options. Walk them through the first "Guided Practice" problems, then either pair them up or ask them to try on their own. Once they realize they get the same answer every time, I believe their anxiety will diminish. Please view the video and forgive my verbal stumbles. This animated presentation was a hit in my 7th grade math classes. Some of the work I got from my students was really great, and almost all of them are distributing correctly! Have fun with it. It works.

Use this presentation to teach the Pythagorean Theorem. What I like to do is export this to a .pdf and assign it in Google Classroom, so my students can take notes on exactly what they see on the Promethean Board. I usually get good questions and very high engagement. I hope it helps your students too.

This animated presentation makes very clear where the y-intercept is in an equation written in slope-intercept form and on a graph. If your students use iPads, you could assign the presentation to them and have them move the lines around and write the equations themselves. Hope it helps your students out!

I think this would look great in your students' interactive notebooks. We don't always like rogue memorization, but formulas and certain forms of equations need to be. Hope this helps.

In this presentation, I try to correct a common misconception. When we simplify an expression inside absolute value bars, we must leave them until there is one integer.

This presentation highlights the like-terms and really helped my students understand how to " keep the sign" and combine them properly. Now, if only they would always get their integers right.

This file shows a few examples of two-step equations and the best procedure for checking the answer to prove it is right. There are also a few practice problems and check reminders. The answers are provided so it's important to stress the need to show the entire process!

Use this file to make equations less daunting and maybe more fun to look at. I assign in Google Classroom and display on the Promethean Board as I walk the class through these (of course Microsoft Teams and a Smart Board would work also). Make sure to go over the practice problems to assess their learning!
