About the store
I am a passionate primary school teacher working in New South Wales, Australia. I ran Readengage.com for a number of years and had hundreds of subscribers, unfortunately a combination of being time poor (with a new baby) and the cost of hosting the site meant I had to go offline. It's great to be back making these articles accessible and having a forum to post new material. If you "follow" me, you will receive notifications of when new content is available. I plan on uploading all old content that was not based on a particular current event.

Experience

I am a passionate primary school teacher working in New South Wales, Australia. I ran Readengage.com for a number of years and had hundreds of subscribers, unfortunately a combination of being time poor (with a new baby) and the cost of hosting the site meant I had to go offline. Teaching style

I believe that explicit teaching of the "SuperSix Strategies" of reading comprehension can improve students' learning outcomes in literacy. I created these texts because I wanted to provide quality, engaging texts for Australian students based on issues that are current and significant to their lives.

Awards & shining teacher moments

Feedback from teachers: "I'd just like to say thank you for all the work you do with your articles. I love them and use them weekly (the last few week's I've been using some from the archives)." - S.S "Hi Mark Just want to thank you for the excellent articles in Read Engage. I am using them regularly with some small groups I take, and they are particularly effective as a comprehension tool. I usually use a video of some kind to match the article to stimulate initial engagement, and then work our way through the article. This week I also used Wordle to discuss main ideas within a segment of an article. So thanks again. Your hard work is much appreciated." - T.W. "Dear Mark I am working full time in 3/4. I love your work. It is relevant, current and practical." - M "Hi, Love the worksheets guys. Am currently using them for discussion in class and to be completed for HWK. Keep them coming, they are fantastic and the students enjoy them too." -CX
