Associate Professor of Education; 13 years of college teaching experience. I am retired and now use my knowledge to teach people things for free. I use proceeds from the sale of my TPT items to help me rehab baby squirrels who have fallen out of nests in the Atlanta area. Thanks for helping!
I teach for free on my website (www.teaching-tails.com), and the proceeds from the sale of supplemental materials here on TPT benefit Ruby's Rescues, an Atlanta-based nonprofit I started to help sick, orphaned and special needs wild animals. I am a licensed rehabber, and I am honored so many of you have chosen to purchase materials and help me save more animals! I have put together a set of flashcards mirroring the content on my website. This set of cards will help your kids review before, durin
Updated in 2024! Here is a pdf of the lyrics to the Word Attack song I wrote. I'm rebranding all of my items to help me spread the word. I am raising money for my nonprofit called Ruby's Rescues. We rescue shelter dogs and help rehabilitate baby squirrels who are injured or orphaned. Check back, more cool stuff incoming in 2024.
I have created quick running record forms that can be used with a group of what I call my benchmark books. I have chosen one high-quality piece of literature at each level, this way I can grab my group of books and sit down with just about any level student and get a quick assessment of his/her capabilities. The books I use: Zac the Rat (Starfall), Sheep in a Jeep, How do Dinosaurs Go to School, Click, Clack, Moo, Julius, the Baby of the World, Sylvester and the Magic Pebble, and Bud, Not Bud
This bundle includes the handout for teaching grammar, including a character, movement and definition for each part of speech, the mnemonic poster (Nine very angry), and a printable flashcard for each part of speech. Visit www.teaching-tails.com for access to all of the free videos.
Thanks so much for supporting Ruby's Rescues. In this listing, you will get handwriting handouts for all 50 states and capitals, as well as qr codes on each page to enable students to follow along with me as I make a mockery of trying to use technology to record handwriting videos. The one nice thing: students will gain confidence when they see me absolutely fumbling with this activity! ::haha:: These handouts/worksheets are great because they are learning the 50 states and capitals at their own
If you have enjoyed the videos on TikTok and YouTube, I invite you to make a donation to my nonprofit Ruby's Rescues by purchasing these flashcards. I hope they bring you joy, help you learn to read music so you can play and enjoy music. Yay.

The summarizing videos are free on my website. www.teaching-tails.com. The handouts, songs, Powerpoints and SmartNotebook files are here, and all proceeds benefit Ruby's Rescues, my Atlanta-based nonprofit dedicated to helping orphaned, sick or injured wild animals. Thank you for helping!!
Bookmarks designed to help young readers navigate _Sheep in a Jeep_ all by themselves. Convenient bookmarks offer students a QR codes that connect with YouTube videos. Dr. Ruby tackles words individually to help students figure out which phonics elements might still give them trouble. Videos are short and phonics-based to support the new science of reading. Great activity for independent flexible groups.
At Reading Squirrels, learning is free and the sale of supplemental materials go to Ruby's Rescues. In this PDF file, you have a comprehension strategy poster and assessment for Drawing Inferences.
Word identification is an important part of learning to read. This song teaches children the three things you can do when you don't know a word: sound it out, look for small parts, and look around for clues.

This silly story will help students build schema for comprehension strategies. After learning the names, they will have existing knowledge they can "add to" as they learn to use each of these strategies. This purchase includes the poster with mnemonic, a poster with steps for teaching comprehension strategies, and a link to the YouTube video explaining the monitor lizard's story.
Print the attached pdf, cut out the manipulatives, glue the back and front together, and insert a popsicle stick or tongue depressor to give students a way to hold the three steps up in front of them!
Hi! Sorry to bring you to a pay site, but so many people have warned me that keeping the pattern free and online will help others replicate it, have it made in overseas, and then take my business away from me. So, it does not cost much, but it will keep me going! Thanks again for contributing to my crazy work. Here is a link to the instruction video: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=TasFmcAJwsc
