Industrial Revolution Team Project

Learning about the Industrial Revolution will be memorable after completing this group project! Students will be grouped into teams of 5 and will work together to invent an object that can be used to increase production in the classroom. I've tried to make this project integrate several subject areas, including social studies (history of the Industrial Revolution), language arts (writing, reflection, marketing), science (physics, mechanics), art (marketing), and music (marketing). This project

This weather science project will give your students the power of choice as well as hands-on experience in observing, recording data and presenting scientific findings. I created this project to culminate a 4th grade unit on weather. Students are give two project choices: they may build their own weather instrument and record data gathered from that instrument for 7 days or they may research a form of severe weather and create a PowerPoint presentation on their topic. With either choice, studen

Shhh! Student's love encoding their spelling words with this activity! Students create their own secret code alphabet and use it to spell their spelling words. This activity will reinforce memorization of spelling words and give students a creative opportunity to encode and decode the words. Secret Code Spelling can be used in literacy centers, for homework, group work or individual practice. "I love you because..." I created this freebie just in time for Valentine's Day! This download is for a writing prompt or journaling paper that includes an argyle heart border in pink and gray across the bottom of the page. This would be a great template for your students to write letters of appreciation to those they love this February! About the store

Experience

After working as a substitute teacher, I went back to school and received a Masters of Art in Teaching degree in Early Childhood Education from Piedmont College. My student teaching experience was in a kindergarten classroom, and for the last three years I have worked in two elementary schools and one middle school as a reading and math tutor. Currently, I am teaching fourth grade at a private Christian school.

Teaching style

I believe, first and foremost, that every child can learn and every child deserves the opportunity to learn. I work to tailor my teaching to my students' individual needs and do all I can to make the subject matter interesting and relevant to their lives. More than anything, I try to teach in an engaging way so that students can become involved in learning with me.

Awards & shining teacher moments

I graduated (relieved!) with a 4.0 GPA from Piedmont College.

My own education history

What did I always want to be when I grew up? A teacher, of course, but I took a round-about way of getting there. After high school, determined to be a flutist in a symphony, I attended Lee University as a music major. Half-way through my program I decided to switch majors and went into Intercultural Studies. About five years later I realized my desire to teach and went back to school at Piedmont College for teacher certification and a MAT degree in Early Childhood Education.

Additional biographical information

I've been happily married for 11 years now to my very best friend. Together we have four awesome children, ages 16 months, 5 years, 7 years and 9 years. We are very active in our church where my husband is a youth and children's minister and I help wherever I can! I also enjoy outside adventures that involve tents and/or canoes, crocheting, music and making anything I can find on Pinterest. :)
