Great For Dr. Seuss Day or to make math fun! Read the classic story, One Fish Two Fish Red Fish Blue Fish then have students use colored goldfish crackers, Swedish fish, cut outs of fish or even simple color tiles to determine addition and subtraction sentences and introduce simple fractions.
Students estimate the initial amount of fruit loops, then estimate again when they sort them and finally when they glue them onto their Valentine heart (a large heart or a smaller heart). They also count the actual amount and find the difference between their estimation and the actual amount. Happy Valentines Day!
Students can follow simple instructions to make Oobleck. They will need cornstarch, water, bowl, plastic bag, sharpie, 1/4 measuring cup and a teaspoon.
