Crystal Observation Sheet

Crystal growing kits are a great way to engage students in a discussion about crystals! This sheet can be used to record observations and facilitate further discussion in the classroom. My students loved watching their crystals grow and change over about a week's time; this recording sheet helped them keep track of their progress, and reflect on the growth at the end! This is a great addition to any geology unit, or just a fun science experiment!

My students love to practice their reading with games, and tic tac toe is a fun and easy way to tie in learning while having fun. Boards included focus on first grade skills such as long vowel teams (long i - i, ie, igh, y) (long o - oa, ow, oe) (long e - ie, ee, ea) (long e - ey, y), and a CVC word board.
