This customizable parent letter is two pages long, and it has a sharp, professional-looking presentation.
The main design found on the first page centers around an inspirational quote and contains an inspiring introduction to the letter. Click inside the text boxes to add your class information. As an example, I included what I usually have in the text boxes.
I guarantee that this will create a great first impression with parents.
Contains 4 simple sentences with prepositional phrases and 5 sentences with compound subjects or compound predicates to diagram. All the sentences are verses from the Bible.
I use this as a review of sentence diagramming. It could also be used as an assessment to test how well the students' diagramming skills.
It contains the Christmas story from Luke in the Bible.
After the story, the students are to complete a multiple choice question section based on the text.
The grammar worksheet addresses the different sentence structures--simple, compound, complex, compound-complex--and the different phrases and clauses.
It would be good to teach or review grammar concepts.

Here are 23 questions in which the students must look for certain items within the chapter. A few questions focus on literary devices like literary devices, irony or foreshadowing, but most questions focus on reading comprehension. For example, what are the names of the two rivers? It is fun and engaging, especially when you award the fastest students with a candy prize (warheads, of course!). Overall, it is a great way to review reading.
The questions have some specific page numbers for th
In this packet, there are these worksheets:

Who would have thought that this Top 40 song would contain so many poetry devices? As a review activity, hand out the lyrics, listen to the song (via YouTube), and then have the students complete a scavenger hunt to find poetry devices amidst the lyric lines . In the packet, you will get instructions, lyrics ready to be photocopied, and a student example of lyrics annotated.
This is a choice board in which students may participate in activities that appeal to their personal learning style whether it be auditory, visual, or kinesthetic.
I also have a page that says which GA public school education standards are covered in this lesson.
The document includes three sections: student instructions, a mad lib model, and helpful web links.
Student Instructions
The instructions tell the students how to write their own mad lib. The instructions asks students to include different parts of speech as well as the use of onomatopoeia and sensory language.
Mad Lib Model
The model is a short example for the students, so they have a model to help them understand what they are to do.
Helpful Web Links

Research proves that grammar instruction is only effective when integrated in student writing versus being stand-alone exercises.
This is a fun, creative writing activity that reviews indefinite pronouns (as well as the importance of verb agreement when using singular or plural pronouns).
Feel free to contact me (Sarah Sansbury) if you have any questions.
There are several tests out there focusing just on reading comprehension. These questions go deeper to focus on literary analysis skills. It includes 14 matching and 3 short answer. The matching requires students to match examples of literary devices in the novel to the literary device; it also has a section requiring students to match the literary device with the correct definition. The short answer questions focus on symbolism, dynamic character and theme. If one wanted to make a longer t
