This project is inspired by History Alive! and is to be completed at the end of the ancient India unit. Students work in groups to create a palm leaf book that includes the following: book cover, a map of India, 5 pages that discuss topics covered in class (for example: Hinduism, Buddhism, caste system, Gods, the Gupta Empire, etc.), and a glossary.
The file includes an overview, scoring guide, a group planning sheet, and templates for the palm leaf book.
Students work in groups to create a pyramid of information. Each side of the pyramid will detail one important concept about Egypt (religion, daily life, pharaohs, and accomplishments).
The file includes a pyramid template that may be enlarged on a photocopier to create a larger pyramid.
The file also includes a scoring guide.

I am a strong believer that all children are capable of learning if given encouragement. I also feel that cooperative learning is a very important part of the educational process.
