This PDF has a list of 11 lab safety rules with explanations and a contract for parents and students to sign. I find it's very clear for students to understand exactly what is expected of them in my science lab after we review this safety contract.
Topics covered:
-Table and materials organization
-Roughhousing in the lab
-Food & drink
-Lab procedures
-Accidents
-Safely handling lab equipment
-Glassware safety
-Microscope usage
-Burner safety
-Personal safety equipment
-Cleaning up after lab
This is super helpful to remind students about types of variables in a scientific investigation. I give a copy to my fifth graders when they start STEM Fair projects!

This resource can be used as a refresher, a homework practice, or a class assessment of student knowledge and use of independent variables, dependent variables, and types of investigations. I've used it with fifth graders before as a way to give practice after introducing types of variables in an investigation. I've also used it with eighth graders as a way to quiz them on their prior knowledge of this topic. Let me know how you use it in the comments!
