This is a comprehensive rubric that can be used for any presentation project pertaining to weather phenomena and hurricanes. I used it specifically for Florida weather patterns and hurricanes, but it can be used in any state as the rubric does not mention FL. Guidelines and instructions for student presentations can be created to coincide with this rubric or you could use the rubric by itself to guide student creations and assess. Let me know how you use it by leaving feedback and rating this p
This is super helpful to remind students about types of variables in a scientific investigation. I give a copy to my fifth graders when they start STEM Fair projects!

This project is designed to be an assessment of an environmental science unit. The project has students demonstrate learning of air/water/land resources and their sustainable use. Students demonstrate learning by creating a plan of action to educate their school community about resources then implementing several action plan steps to make sure resources are being conserved. The PDF includes a project overview and day 1 agenda, plan of action worksheets for air, land, and water resource groups, a
This packet includes a project outline and rubric for a motion lab investigation. Both items are editable so that you can change it depending on your available materials or grading details. Let your students demonstrate their knowledge of Newton's Laws while having fun and working together! Please rate this product and let me know how it worked for you! Happy teaching :)
In this project, students are asked to create a piece of the periodic table so that an entire table may be displayed with all of the students' work. You can choose to assign only the most common elements or have students assigned to multiple elements so that you complete an entire table. I used pre-measured cardboard squares (7 inches) so that students didn't have to obtain their own, but you could totally have students bring in their own square to use. If you use this resource, please leave a
This is an assignment that allows student to watch animal cams from various zoos across the globe in order to analyze the structure and function of organisms. Instructions, web links, and questions are included on the Google Doc for students. Please review this product and tell me how it worked for you! Happy teaching :)
What are the benefits of various structural adaptations of plants?
In this three-part lab investigation, students will determine why different plants have different shaped leaves, leaves with different textures, and leaves with varying thickness. Specifically, students are investigating how these differences help the plant manage water loss depending on its ecosystem.

Through this lab investigation, students will determine which substance (salt, sand, or sugar) is most soluble and which are not soluble. Students have the opportunity to design their own way of testing the solubilities of the substances and creating their own data table. This can be used as a nature of science assessment or an exploration of matter.
Please review my product if you use it and be sure to check out the other items in my store! Enjoy :)
This resource can be used as a refresher, a homework practice, or a class assessment of student knowledge and use of independent variables, dependent variables, and types of investigations. I've used it with fifth graders before as a way to give practice after introducing types of variables in an investigation. I've also used it with eighth graders as a way to quiz them on their prior knowledge of this topic. Let me know how you use it in the comments!
