We all know that students should be reading self-selected texts as often as possible. However, it is incredibly difficult to manage this as a teacher, especially across multiple class periods and potentially hundreds of students. This log allows teachers to track behavior--good or bad--and keep notes when a full write up is not necessary. For example, I found myself often telling students, "If you do that again, I will [impose consequence]." However, with 120 students each day, I lost track of who did what in which class, leaving some things slipping through the cracks.
