About the store
I've been teaching for 13 years. Five of those years were in a Montessori (1st-3rd grade) classroom in our newly-founded public school Montessori setting. Now I teach third grade (the best grade to teach, in my opinion)!

Total in All Math Problem Solving

This engaging activity allows the teacher to decide how much support the students need. It can be a completely independent task, sent as homework, completed at a center, or done as a class. Students can work in pairs or groups to problem solve and stretch their math minds. Students who enjoy drawing or thinking creatively will fully embrace this activity!

Fruit Themed Match the Numbers

This 'very little prep' activity can be done independently without adult guidance. Students can work alone, in pairs, or in groups. For children who need practice in matching numbers to objects or with counting. Great activity for hand-eye coordination and fine motor skills! *Note: You will need 10 clothespins or other clips for your students to complete the activity.

Dots - math activity

These are to be printed out on cardstock, then cut around the outside of each box, fold the blank sides in, so you have 12 separate boxes, all of which will challenge the average first grader (or above average Kindergartener), or offer extra (fun) practice for becoming fluent with facts for a struggling second grader. Note: This is just 1 center, not a whole unit with centers.

Temperature Study

There are 2 sets of cards in this packet. The first set comes as pages to print off on cardstock, then to be cut out and taught with...or children can match them at a center. The second set comes as temperatures that children could place on a large class thermometer or you could make paper thermometers to match with these.

These are meant to be printed onto cardstock, but apart, and used to teach, then as a center.

About the store

Experience

I've been teaching for 13 years. Five of those years were in a Montessori (1st-3rd grade) classroom in our newly-founded public school Montessori setting. Now I teach third grade (the best grade to teach, in my opinion)!

Teaching style

I honor student input and find value in students' ideas. My classroom is rarely filled with the teacher doing a bunch of lecturing. I have recently become interested in Whole Brain Teaching (check it out on YouTube).

Awards & shining teacher moments

Okemos Commitment to Excellence award, Extraordinary Science Curriculum award, Technology Guru plaque

My own education history

I bleed green and white, for Michigan State University, of course! It's nice living in (or near) a college town. There are so many resources that my students and I benefit from, such as the planetarium, dairy store (how to make ice cream), the Children's 4-H Gardens, Wharton (center for performing arts), and so much more! Plus, we teachers have access to professors and they are often willing to come into the classroom to enrich our lives more! I earned both my bachelor's and master's degrees from MSU. The College of Education has earned many honors too. It's a pedagogical mecca!

Additional biographical information

I have the most wonderful husband and a most amazing son and daughter. My son is in seventh grade and my daughter is in fourth. Life is good!
