About the store
I've been teaching for 13 years. Five of those years were in a Montessori (1st-3rd grade) classroom in our newly-founded public school Montessori setting. Now I teach third grade (the best grade to teach, in my opinion)!

Ending Blends Phonics

This can be one or two centers/activities. Focus is on the ending blends of nt, nk, mp, st, lf, lt, ft, and sk. Students can work on this independently, in pairs or small groups, or as a whole class. It could also be a home project or with an adult if child needs assistance. Students can sort these and the cards can be reused or they can cut and paste the cards into a notebook.

Parts of a Volcano

These cards are great for a rock, Earth Science, or volcano unit. This activity can be done individually, in small groups, or as a class. Updated to include a full page of the blank volcano.
Preview of Even Odd Forest

Even Odd Forest

This activity comes with built-in differentiation. It can be a review for students who may have been exposed to even/odd before. It can also be practice for younger students who are just learning about even and odd numbers. After printing and cutting (and laminating if possible), this activity becomes an instant center or group activity. It can also fit into a themed forest unit.

This is an activity, which includes some suggestions for a mini lesson to go with it. If you have already introduced prepositions or just need students to review, this is the perfect follow-up!

Double the Details

This engaging activity allows students to use their creativity to elaborate on sentences. Just download, print, and you're ready! In the end, students will have a way to show they know how to add details to a sentence.

Alphabetical Order

This activity can be used 1-on-1, independently, in small groups, or as a class. It is meant for students who are just learning to alphabetize and can read or sound out 3-letter words. I use it as a review and to check on my first graders near the beginning of the school year.

Common Abbreviations

This file contains two sets of cards for students to use in learning the English language and gain a better understanding of vocabulary. It can be used in a classroom, as well as sent home for students to complete individually. Printing copies and laminating them will allow you to use and reuse these at centers for many years to come.

About the store

Experience

I've been teaching for 13 years. Five of those years were in a Montessori (1st-3rd grade) classroom in our newly-founded public school Montessori setting. Now I teach third grade (the best grade to teach, in my opinion)!

Teaching style

I honor student input and find value in students' ideas. My classroom is rarely filled with the teacher doing a bunch of lecturing. I have recently become interested in Whole Brain Teaching (check it out on YouTube).

Awards & shining teacher moments

Okemos Commitment to Excellence award, Extraordinary Science Curriculum award, Technology Guru plaque

My own education history

I bleed green and white, for Michigan State University, of course! It's nice living in (or near) a college town. There are so many resources that my students and I benefit from, such as the planetarium, dairy store (how to make ice cream), the Children's 4-H Gardens, Wharton (center for performing arts), and so much more! Plus, we teachers have access to professors and they are often willing to come into the classroom to enrich our lives more! I earned both my bachelor's and master's degrees from MSU. The College of Education has earned many honors too. It's a pedagogical mecca!

Additional biographical information

I have the most wonderful husband and a most amazing son and daughter. My son is in seventh grade and my daughter is in fourth. Life is good!
