Ending Blends Phonics
This can be one or two centers/activities. Focus is on the ending blends of nt, nk, mp, st, lf, lt, ft, and sk. Students can work on this independently, in pairs or small groups, or as a whole class. It could also be a home project or with an adult if child needs assistance. Students can sort these and the cards can be reused or they can cut and paste the cards into a notebook.

Fruit Themed Match the Numbers
This 'very little prep' activity can be done independently without adult guidance. Students can work alone, in pairs, or in groups. For children who need practice in matching numbers to objects or with counting. Great activity for hand-eye coordination and fine motor skills! *Note: You will need 10 clothespins or other clips for your students to complete the activity.

Even Odd Forest
This activity comes with built-in differentiation. It can be a review for students who may have been exposed to even/odd before. It can also be practice for younger students who are just learning about even and odd numbers. Beginning Sounds Alphabet Matching
This is a great activity for students who are learning their letter sounds or a review for those who might need it. Peeps Science with a Language Arts component, Day 4
The summary day. This is when students draw conclusions to the experiments performed. The lesson plan also includes suggestions and prompting statements to help guide students to conclusions if they're having trouble. This is a collection of 53 riddles or jokes - 1 about each state and a couple extra about the U.S. Students solve them by using a fairly simple code. The same code works for all of them. For younger students, the fun is in solving the code. For older students, the fun comes when reading the jokes. You can print the pages or project them for students to solve online or on the board.

Experience

I honor student input and find value in students' ideas. My classroom is rarely filled with the teacher doing a bunch of lecturing. I have recently become interested in Whole Brain Teaching (check it out on YouTube).

My own education history
I bleed green and white, for Michigan State University, of course! It's nice living in (or near) a college town. There are so many resources that my students and I benefit from, such as the planetarium, dairy store (how to make ice cream), the Children's 4-H Gardens, Wharton (center for performing arts), and so much more! Plus, we teachers have access to professors and they are often willing to come into the classroom to enrich our lives more! I earned both my bachelor's and master's degrees from MSU. The College of Education has earned many honors too. It's a pedagogical mecca!
Additional biographical information
I have the most wonderful husband and a most amazing son and daughter. My son is in seventh grade and my daughter is in fourth. Life is good!
