This activity will help your students be able to visualize the phases of the moon as they appear in the night sky for an entire month. The students will: 1) Label a calendar page with the month and day they were born (your birthday). 2) Number the calendar according to the Months of the Year chart provided. 3) Color in the first New Moon on their birth date. Then fill in the remaining moon phases on the calendar (before and after their birthday).

Experience

I have been a classroom teacher since 1989. I have taught Kindergarten, First Grade, and Fifth Grade; most of my experience has been in Fifth. The years I spent teaching in K and 1 were beyond valuable for teaching in the Science Lab. I am currently teaching 5th Grade Science and History.

Teaching style

Lab based, hands on, 5E, kid centered discovery. I have created my own style in the classroom with a blend of Discipline With Dignity, Love and Logic, Whole Brain Teaching, and Dr. Wong.

My own education history

My first degree was in Psychology with an emphasis on child development and learning and memory, TSU San Marcos, TX. My second degree was in Elementary Education, Tarleton, Stephenville, TX.

I am a wife and mom to a wonderful and growing family. Our nest has recently emptied, but we have gained an amazing son-in-law, daughter-in-law, and grandson. I am convinced the best is yet to come...
