Students learn to utilize the steps of the scientific method to answer a question they derive from a list of materials. I have found that students do not have issues with performing "recipe" labs, but when asked to come up with their own questions and designing experiments to find answers to those questions, they are completely lost.

Chemistry Measurements Study Guide with Practice Worksheet
I give this worksheet a few days before the test on chemistry methods and measurement. The worksheet and study guide has boxes with short "snippets" of memory information and rules covering scientific notation, significant figures, temperature conversions, and english to metric conversions. Students can study the rules and formulas and then practice what they have learned on the back with practice problems.

Retest Form
I allow my students to retake a test they score poorly on provided they prove to me they worked hard to understand the concept better. Students are required to fill out this form explaining to me why they think they scored poorly. Then, they attach two proofs of something they did, on their own time, to better understand the concept. For example, a student may attach copies of rewritten notes, notecards, diagrams or graphic organizers they made, my signature of their attendance to a tutoring

Dimensional Analysis Practice
This worksheet will train students to work dimensional analysis (factor label method) conversions the same way every time. Students are required to fill in a chart that follows the steps to all conversion problems.
The first problem is worked for them as an example, and I use this sheet after I have lectured and worked problems with them. This is an excellent homework activity or for individual practice.

Missing Homework or Assignments Form
I require students to fill out this form if they do not have their homework or other assignment. This effective record-keeping tool helps me to document students that do not have their work and reasons for late assignments. I find that this information, in the student's own handwriting, is very valuable during parent-teacher conferences, as well as student-teacher conferences. The form is easy to use and fully customizable to your needs!

Open House Sign In and Information Sheet for Parents
This form is designed to have a record of which parents attend Open House or Parent Night. Our school has Open House the night before school starts and this document helps me to get email addresses from parents. Having email addresses is a great tool for effectively contacting parents for positive notes.

This form serves to document all students that attend an after school tutoring session. I put this form in a binder and students sign in as they come in for a record of what topics I reviewed which students on. Teaching style
My teaching style includes a great deal of interaction with the students. I am a kinesthetic learner, so I enjoy creating, planning and implementing laboratory activities and investigations. I love for students to dive in and investigate a question they have. I try to incorporate technology when I can and I love to see my students actually EXPERIENCE science. My students utilize color and creativity to express what they are learning in their Interactive Science Notebooks. I change things every year and know that I have so much left to learn!

I live in a rural part of Mississippi with my husband of 18 years, and our two sons ages 15 and 11. I love to read and spend time outdoors with my family. The only thing I love more is teaching!
