About the store
I have over 25 years of experience working with and encouraging high school students to be successful in math! I have taught everything from Pre-Algebra concepts to Pre-Calculus and every student from the Pre-AP high achievers to those that are repeating a course. I love getting the average student to realize that they can be good at math, that it isn't a horrible thing, and actually enjoy coming to class! If you have any questions about any of the resources in my store, please let me know by asking a question (under the "ask a question tab") or send an email directly to SecondaryMathSolutions@gmail.com.

Area of Regular Polygons Practice Activity (G.11A)

This is a challenging double-sided practice page for Geometry students over Finding the Area of Regular Polygons. There are 12 questions total and the answer to each question can be found somewhere on the page. Part of the student's job (in addition to finding the area of each regular polygon) is to find the order of the questions. If they answer every question correctly, they will end up back at the first question. Therefore, this page is self-checking! Regular polygons included on the two pa

Segment Addition Postulate Coloring Activity

This is a one-sided coloring page with 9 questions over the Segment Addition Postulate. This coloring page is scaffolded: Five of the questions do not involve Algebra. The student labels the diagram and then uses the postulate to either find x or the length of one of the segments. On one of the questions, they have to draw a diagram. Four of the questions involve using Algebra. The student uses the postulate to set up a multi-step equation and then either solves for x or finds the length of

Tessellations Project (Geometry End of Year)

This is a fun and creative Geometry project over creating Pure and Semi-pure Tessellations by hand intended for Honors or Pre-Ap Geometry students. The student selects the tessellation that they will create from the guide provided, from the internet or from their textbook. The tessellation must be made of regular polygons that they will construct themselves with a compass and straightedge. Complete directions and examples are included for both the teacher and the student. Construction directio

Proving Triangles Congruent Coloring Activity

This is a double-sided practice page over proving triangles congruent. The student uses the given information, labels the diagram, adds in any additional information such as vertical angles, definition of midpoint or reflexive property and then decides which shortcut (SSS, SAS, ASA, AAS, HL) would prove the two triangles congruent. They use their answer to color a large tessellation design. Finally, 6 more questions are provided for the student to write a congruency statement for some of the pra

Triangle Inequality Theorem Coloring Activity

This is a double-sided coloring page with 16 questions over the Triangle Inequality Theorem. On questions 1 - 12, the student is given 3 side lengths and has to determine if the lengths would determine a triangle. They answer yes or no. On questions 13 - 16, the student is give 2 side lengths and 2 answer choices. They choose the side length that would make a triangle if used with the other two. All answers lead to the correct color to use on the triangle coloring design. For fun, students can

Geometry End of Year Project

This is a fun and creative Geometry project ~ great for the end of the year! Students find 15 Geometry concepts in real-life. The only difference with this project is that the concepts are more difficult than just finding "a square" such as congruent figures, dilation, parallel lines cut by a transversal, midsegment of a triangle, etc. Students find the Geometry concepts and take a picture. At least one photo is required to be a selfie. Students then title the concept and have to provide a knowl

Angles and Arcs of a Circle Challenge Assignment

This is a set of 2 challenging assignments that cover all angle and arc relationships of a circle. The first challenge has 14 questions and the second one has 16 questions. The student is given a diagram with some beginning information and has to use their geometry knowledge to find the rest of the angle and arc measures. Both pages are very challenging and will take the students some time to work through! Completely comprehensive over angles in and out of a circle! Key included. © 2019 Second

Pythagorean Theorem Activity

This activity contains a variety (8) of Pythagorean Theorem questions. Some questions are straight forward and very easy such as providing the lengths of the legs and asking for the length of the hypotenuse while side lengths belong to a Pythagorean triple. While other questions are more difficult as they are application questions in which some questions have the diagram already drawn and some do not. Correct answers lead the student to 8 letters which they have to unscramble to form a math wo

Experience

I have over 25 years of experience working with and encouraging high school students to be successful in math! I have taught everything from Pre-Algebra concepts to Pre-Calculus and every student from the Pre-AP high achievers to those that are repeating a course. I love getting the average student to realize that they can be good at math, that it isn't a horrible thing, and actually enjoy coming to class! If you have any questions about any of the resources in my store, please let me know by asking a question (under the "ask a question tab") or send an email directly to SecondaryMathSolutions@gmail.com.

Teaching style

My goal is to make math easy to learn by making it engaging and fun with foldables, activities and games. In addition, I tend to make notes and practice sheets that are very focused on the specific skill or skills (sometimes pre-requisite) that need to be developed so that the student can be successful. My resources reflect this. In addition, the students that I teach are on-level or below and usually struggle with math and/or don't like it. My approach is to start with where they are and what they know and bring them up from there. My resources reflect this and do not contain too many tricky numbers or super high-level questions because I want to keep them engaged and feeling successful. Finally, I try to vary the approach and not do the same thing from day to day (notes, game, activity, foldable, etc.). Therefore, my store contains a variety of resources for each unit.
