Algebra makes more sense to students when related to real life. In this project they are asked to create their own real life situation using a system of equations and solve it using both the elimination and substitution methods. I printed this on color paper, and gave my students graph paper to complete their project on. Some students struggle with creating a relevant situation, so providing a model is ideal. Students get really creative with open ended projects like this one!
