Every 2nd Grader in my class has a Reading Notebook (binder). I like to use these simple activities in the beginning of the year. Since most 2nd Graders don't have a great deal of stamina in the beginning to just sit and read, I use these to keep them independent and working while I do my assessments. I also learn more about them as readers. It is also great to look back at these at the end of the year.
Included in this packet is:
My Reading Notebook Cover
My Favorite Book
My Favorite Reading
This the form I send home when my students forget their homework. It lets the student and the parent know when homework has not been handed in. It's a catchy way to let the students know what they are missing. I fill it out as I correct the homework.
Read First Day Jitters by Julie Danneberg and then do this activity on the first day of school. Lines are Handwriting without Tears Lines (just white out top line before copying if you don't use HWT).
