Coin Identification Assessment

Created by
Shared Teaching
Looking for an easy way to pre-assess your students on their coin identification? These simple forms come with everything you need to assess before (during or after) your money unit plus inform parents of their child’s progress. I created this coin assessment for use with my first grade class when I realized how few students were recognizing pennies, nickels, dimes, and quarters plus their values. I also needed a way to share with parents the assessment results that wouldn’t take much addition

Teaching style

Every year I am growing and changing, adapting to the needs of my class. I use a variety of approaches and try to differentiate as much as possible. I teach my math using a rotation schedule meeting with a high, medium, and low group daily and I supplement my reading basal with an additional readers' workshop. My self-paced spelling sight word program helps me to differentiate and push my students to be better readers and writers.

My own education history
