This power point takes the kids through the process of comparing fractions over a two day period. Comparing first with like numerators, then like denominators then by cross multiplication. I've included a slide breakdown so that you can follow my train of thought. I've also included the greater than, less than and equal to signs that I print on cardstock and laminate and use throughout the year.

This power point is used to introduce fractions. I've taken the lesson and broken it into 3 sections. The first section defines fractions, identifies the numerator and denominator, describes the function of the numerator, and the function of the denominator. In the second section, students identify the numerator or denominator of fractions and students create fraction stories that coincide with a picture on the slide.
