About the store
I taught bilingual fourth grade for several years in Texas. I was also a science instructional coach for elementary teachers before I moved to Washington State. As a teacher, I was constantly faced with subjects competing for time. My students needed more practice with reading and fluency, and they never had enough science time. So over the years I have written poems, chants, songs, and readers' theatre scripts with science themes that help students work on these reading skills while also reinforcing what we were learning about in science. They enjoy performing them for each other and will quote them for me when they come back and visit.

Classroom Job Application with Job Descriptions and Letters

Each grading period I like to change up classroom jobs. To make it more like a real job application, I created this file for my 4th grade students, though it would work for 5th or 6th as well. It contains a list of jobs with descriptions, a 1-page application which students fill out, and an acceptance or reassignment letter. Similar to real jobs, all students can't always get the jobs they want because too many people apply. So the 'reassignment' letter reassigns the student to another posit

This fun twist on a traditional Christmas poem reminds students of science safety rules using the poetic rhythm of the poem "'Twas the NIght Before Christmas." There are two formats of the poem: one-pager, and a half sheet (to conserve copies). Also, there are two versions of the poem based on the teacher's gender. (This could be used in lower grades; however, be warned that there is spill of H2SO4 mentioned (forgive my lack of subscript in html) - an unfamiliar convention for younger grades.
