Students can follow the easily recognizable steps of how to make a peanut butter and jelly sandwich, then write or draw in the step that is missing. Great for critical thinking, or a fun way to jump start a how-to writing unit.
Have students show what they know about the difference in the seasons. I had my students draw the same tree in all four seasons, but you could have your students draw what clothing would be appropriate, what activities you can do, or what the weather is like in each season. Great for so many tasks, feel free to use however you choose!
This download provides two versions of the same worksheet for differentiation. Students can fill in the missing letter of the piratical words to practice decoding and recoding. Have fun!
After reading the book Molly, By Golly! by Dianne Ochiltree, students can cut and glue adjectives that describe the character of Molly, the first female firefighter.
Get ready for the Christmas season! This is a great visual way for students to add two groups of numbers as a warm up, teacher table, independent practice or homework.
Use these pages to have students practice adding 10 to any number on both a number line, 2-digit addition model, and skip-counting. These can be great practice at your teacher table, as homework, or as independent practice.
I used these pages with students who struggle with adding one more to a number, or with knowing "what comes next" as they count. These can be easily used as a teacher table warm up, homework, or independent practice using a number line and the counting-on strategy.
Use this as independent practice or small group warm up for students to practice decoding C-V-C words and/or alphabetical order. I have also used this as a differentiated spelling list for a group of students who needed more practice with short vowel CVC words.

Page 1: Read these poems aloud to students and have them guess what the classrioom object is. This serves as a interactive model for the "i spy" poem format and rhyme scheme that students can then read and have a chance to answer independently on Page 2. Page 2 answers: 1. eraser 2. bookshelf 3. PBIS clip chart 4. mailbox/cubby
After reading the book I Repeat, Don't Cheat by Margery Cuyler (or having a classroom discussion about cheating) I let students fill in the speech bubble on this worksheet to show what their response would be if a friend asked them to cheat in class. They colored the rest and then had the opportunity to share their work. This is a great activity for setting expectations at the beginning of the year, or after a similar incident occurs in your classroom.
Students must use phonics and blending skills in order to match the picture to the correct word. As they decide between the two choices, one real and one nonsense, they must ask themselves, "does this word make sense?" which can then be generalized and applied as an independent reading strategy.
I made this quick review/warm up for teacher table or independent practice. Have kids use their decoding skills as well as consonant blends to select the correct picture.
