This is a student interest inventory that I usually have ready on the students' desks on the first day of school. This just helps me get to know my students a little better, and it also gives me time to help with drop-off procedures during the first day.
There is a word search for early finishers complete with an answer key included.
This homework packet covers nightly math homework (Monday-Thursday) over a span of 5 weeks. Each night, students will have 6 practice problems, including a vocabulary study, recursive practice, and on-level skill practice. This unit features place value, rounding, addition, and subtraction concepts based on Common Core State Standards. The table of contents details CCSS related to the problem, and an answer key is provided. I am in the process of editing and uploading a packet for each of the
This is a math dictionary/glossary template that can be used as a reference throughout the year. As students come across an important math vocabulary term, they can add it to their dictionary. There is a "how-to" tip page as well as an example slide included. More slides can be added for each letter of the alphabet as needed simply by utilizing the duplicate function. *If you plan to use this on Google Classroom, don't forget to check to box to make a copy for each student!
The exercises included in this packet are designed to expose students to strategies that help with multiplying facts beyond 12 mentally. The exercises start off with basic facts so and then progress to more complex facts. Multiplying 144 x 5, for example, can be computed mentally by using the simplicity of multiplying by 10 (144 x 10 = 1,440) and then splitting that product in half, since 5 is half of 10.
Similar exercises for multiplying by 4, 8, and 12 are included.
Students roll one die twice and represent their expression as an equal groups model, repeated addition, and as an array. They use these models to help them determining the product.
While it is true that the order of the factors doesn’t change the product (Commutative Property of Multiplication), it is important to note that the order of the factors does change the model. Mathematicians have agreed on the meaning of each factor depending on the order of its appearance in the equation. This
Is $100 really a lot of money? Students explore this question as they work within a $100 budget to shop for items in sales circulars and catalogs. In this activity students will explore: money, addition, subtraction, rounding, and estimation. A scoring checklist is included.
This is a great activity for establishing a positive and supportive classroom environment. In this activity, students use a picture book full of famous quotes as a launching pad for reflecting on their own lives as members of the classroom community.
This activity is rather open-ended, adaptable, and taps into higher level thinking skills. Your higher level thinkers can take this as far as they are able, and your "lower level thinkers" might just surprise you! Students brainstorm and then put
During this activity, students will answer questions about themselves independently using a multiple-choice questionnaire. They will share their answers with the class by walking or dancing to a corner/area of the classroom that is marked with the letter that matches their answer choice. Students will move to corners when music is played and “freeze” for discussion when the music stops.
The independent questionnaire also provides an opportunity to introduce and practice "bubbling" answers.
Keep track of nightly multiplication and/or division fluency with this easy to use log. The log requires a initial from a parent/guardian (or I even allow older siblings & babysitters) to confirm nightly practice.
The months October thru May are displayed on one sheet, so no need to reprint each month.
Edit the time requirements or study tips to personalize as needed.
