Scientific Notation and Powers of Ten Project: The Noodle Jar
This activity uses estimation, multiplication, powers of ten
and scientific notation to find out how many noodles it will take to fill a jar. The activity looks at six different sizes of noodles. The students estimate and then calculate the exact answer. Finally, they convert the answers into scientific notation.

Scientific Notation Project: What's Faster than a Speeding Cheetah
The activity focuses on fast items and compares them to even faster items. The students then take the concepts from the book* and apply them to these questions. These questions were created to reinforce and practice the use of Powers of Ten and Scientific Notation.
