Jigsaw reading is a fun and engaging way to introduce or reinforce content, encourage cooperative learning and get students moving! Use this activity to introduce or reinforce the development of the atomic theory. Students will learn about each scientist and their contribution of the development of the atomic theory. Jigaw Reading Activities are a fun and engaging way to introduce, or reinforce a topic while encouraging cooperative learning. I will usually assign a jigsaw reading activity after I have introduced the topic using a video or mini skills lab. I will then have a whole class discussion on what we have learned based on the jigsaw activity and address any misconceptions with explicit instruction.
