The author was born in Taiwan and raised in Mozambique, South Africa and Brazil. He has lived in the Sultanate of Oman and travelled to countries in Africa, the Middle East and Europe.
The author is a qualified teacher, trainer, assessor and is currently doing professional development in the field of online course design. He has completed post-graduate studies in English and, more recently, History.
In 2013, after teaching English at secondary school level since 1999, The author decided to change his main teaching subject from English to History. He completed two honours-level modules in historiography at the University of Pretoria and third-year level History courses in General and South African History at the University of South Africa (UNISA).
The author would like to conduct further research into various aspects of early medieval history. He is spending 2021 in a preparatory reading programme on Late Antiquity / the early medieval period in the hopes of pursuing post-graduate studies in that field.
In addition, he is using the year to improve his qualifications in general. For this reason, he has decided to pursue training in archival methods, procedures and management and hopes that the courses offered by the International Council on Archives will help him embark on an exciting journey of learning and self-development.
