This product includes 5 fluency passages focused on March themes. The 5 titles included are: The Science Behind the Rainbow, The History of St. Patrick's Day, The Legend of the Hidden Gold, March Winds and Changing Seasons, and The Power of Renewal. Lexile levels range from 940L to 1080 L. This lesson looks at the Women's Movement, Black Power Movement, and Youth Movement of the 1960's. This resource assists students with finding theme using Pixar short films before attempting to find themes in literature. It includes definitions of theme, personification, foreshadowing, and inferencing. Before watching the short film, students look at images of the main characters and predict their character traits and what they think the story is about. This is a short descriptive writing activity that can be paired with drawing or building gingerbread houses. Students are asked to use descriptive adjectives to describe the house, and to be creative with an address, features, etc. There is a checklist for students to use to edit their work before turning it in. Slides are editable.

This project invites students to research a Roman emperor and evaluate whether their reign was positive or negative for the Roman empire at that time. This resource explores character traits (self, others, historical figures) and connects positive traits to the American Dream. Students explore their own character traits, those of peers, the importance of specificity in identifying traits, Ben Franklin's life and varied talents/traits, and finally, different definitions of the American Dream as expressed by six prominent Americans. Included is a basic checklist for students that struggle with organization. It is editable (includes reference to Aspen, our system for maintaining grades) Students must organize their backpacks, check their grades, prioritize their work, access necessary materials and initiate their work successfully for full credit. Many students in special education do not understand the purpose and content of an IEP. This is a mini-lesson that introduces the reasons IEP's exist, and asks students to reflect on their accommodations.
