Mitten Counting. Print out and laminate. You can then reuse these. Have students count the dots on the mittens and write the number in the box opposite the mitten. Next, ask the learners to draw their own dots to represent the number they have written.
As we approach winter, we are looking at hibernation. Here I have adopted a mathematical lesson into my theme. Leaners can match each bear to their correct cave. Here they will have the opportunity for number recognition, approximate judgement and check their answers by counting the red dots to see if they have correctly matched each bear to their cave.
As Christmas fast approaches, learners are beginning to integrate this into their work. This worksheet provides learners with the opportunity to predict and subitise, discuss most or least and create numerical sequencing, using numbers 1 - 6.
Cut out the Christmas tree. Then cut out the shapes. Can you match them to each of the spaces on the tree? Can you name the shapes as they are glued on?
Use the theme of Halloween to introduce your learners to number sequencing. This type of activity should be done once children understand the concept of counting out loud, for object numerical representation. The challenge here is these objects can't be picked up and moved for counting. There is a little more focus required.
