About the store
After graduating with degrees in Elementary Education and Special Education, I was a paraprofessional for one year working with students ages elementary-high school and am now in my seond year as a SPED teacher at Rebecca Boone Elementary School. I work with students in kindergarten, first grade and second grade pushing into the general education classroom for co-teaching and pulling students out for specialized instruction. My building runs the center-based programs for students with Autism Spectrum Disorder and students that have an Emotional Disturbance or Behavior Disorder. It gets pretty crazy but I LOVE it and I'm definitely never bored!

I recently presented this at a tri-county summit for 5 school districts in my area. The information is simple to present but clear enough for first time listeners to understand. It explains what UDL is, how we can use it in the classroom, benefits, how it relates to Common Core State Standards, and real-life examples. I left it in Powerpoint format so that you can modify as needed. Please let me know if you have any questions! Thanks for the download and enjoy!!!

These are 10 different behavior sheets that I use to assess some of my students. I use them for daily sheets or weekly updates. Many of my students also set daily or weekly behavior goals and we use these to assess progress. I left them in Microsoft Word so that you can modify to meet the needs of your students. Enjoy and please remember to rate/comment!

Student Strategy and Intervention Checklist

This is a checklist that I use to keep track of interventions and strategies that have been or should be tried with my students already in special education and students going through the referral process. It is a great help for the general education teachers and EXTREMELY valuable when justifying initial services or additional services for students. I left it as a Word document so that you can modify it to fit your needs. Thanks for the download and enjoy!!!

IEP meetings can be daunting for parents, as well as teachers. Let's try to make the process as simple and painless as possible and let the parents/guardians know that they ARE part of the team! I started using this agenda this year and it has really helped the parents follow along and myself/related service providers stay on-task. I kept it as a Word document so that you can modify to best meet your needs. Thanks for the download and ENJOY!

Experience

After graduating with degrees in Elementary Education and Special Education, I was a paraprofessional for one year working with students ages elementary-high school and am now in my seond year as a SPED teacher at Rebecca Boone Elementary School. I work with students in kindergarten, first grade and second grade pushing into the general education classroom for co-teaching and pulling students out for specialized instruction. It gets pretty crazy but I LOVE it and I'm definitely never bored!

Teaching style

I believe that every child can learn and be successful. Collaboration between general education and special education is VITAL for student success and teacher growth. I try my best to apply Universal Design for Learning in both my classroom and building-wide to meet the needs of all students. My district uses Positive Behavior Intervention Support daily and I have seen its strategies greatly benefit our kids!

Awards & shining teacher moments

In college, I was part of my university's Honors College and continue to be a member of Kappa Delta Pi-an honors education fraternity. I am currently the building special education representative for my district and was recently awarded a grant from the Missouri Retired Teachers Association. I can't wait to carry it out!

My own education history

I attended private school K-12, spent my first two years of undergrad at Truman State University and finished both of my teaching degrees at Lindenwood University. I plan to get my masters and doctorate in Deaf Education or Emotional/Behavioral Disorders.
