Speech Cat

This is a patient handout with instructions for completion of Vocal Function Exercises (VFE), as developed by Joseph Stemple. It is intended to supplement instruction by a qualified speech-language pathologist. Included are suggested musical notes for females and boys, and for adult males.

This activity offers a colorful guide for semantic feature analysis, along with examples of how one might use it. Clinicians may find this useful for individuals with word-finding difficulties due to a stroke, traumatic brain injury, or other causes. This guide can be used along with picture cards or objects of the clinician's choice.
