Teaching style

I believe in multi-sensory teaching techniques and using relatable themes and activities to make learning fun, memorable, and lasting. My focus with young students is on using wonderful childrenโ€™s literature, themes, and rhymes to develop and grow language, literacy, and articulation skills.

Awards & shining teacher moments

I hold an ASHA Certificate of Clinical Competence. I've been recognized as Teacher of the Year, and was the recipient of an Innovative Teaching Educational Grant for an intensive preschool speech therapy program I developed. My therapy activities and blog posts have been featured in the ASHA Leader. I've been honored to be a speaker at the TSHA conference, educational service centers and schools, presenting professional training to SLPs and teachers on speech and language topics. My blog, speechsprouts.com has been selected as one of the top 100 websites for SLPs.

My own education history

I earned my MS in Speech-Language Pathology from the University of North Texas. I completed advanced training in the diagnosis and treatment of Childhood Apraxia of Speech with Dr. Edythe Strand and completed the TEACCH Hand in Hand Program.
