This fermi problem is good for a challenge problem or substitute days. Students first estimate the number of regulation size baseballs that will fit in a 2 ft X 3 ft X 6 ft cabinet, then calculate how many baseballs will fit in the cabinet. They will need to understand concepts of volume of rectangular boxes and volume of spheres for this activity.
