System of Inequalities Real Life Application Activity: Fundraising Goals
Often students are asked to participate in fundraising to support their school and/or organizations, but how do those organizations set goals for selling? In this activity, students will use their knowledge of graphing systems of inequalities (or linear programming) to propose fundraising goals. In this activity students apply their knowledge of systems of inequalities (or linear programming) to a very real life problem – their semester grade! This activity is intended for high school students to determine what grades they need for their 2nd quarter and exam to earn a particular grade for the semester. The student is walked through the process of creating inequalities that apply to this situation. It is based on the student’s first quarter grade and the assumption that quarter grades

Teaching style
My philosophy of teaching is to find different ways for students to learn. I believe it is important to show students that math does apply to the "real world" and that yes, indeed, math can be fun.

I enjoy trying new strategies with my students and 'trying' to keep up with them and technology in the classroom.
