About the store
Welcome! I’m a middle school STEM teacher at Barrington Middle School, where I teach in an Applied Technology/STEM lab. I hold a Bachelor’s degree in Applied Science and a Master’s degree in STEM from Illinois State University. My passion is creating engaging, student-centered activities that make learning meaningful, hands-on, and fun. Outside the classroom, I lead an after-school robotics club, run a school recycling club, coach soccer, and serve as a team leader at my school. I create resources with real classrooms in mind — materials that are easy to use, engaging for students, and designed to support active learning. Thanks for stopping by my store!

Programming with RobotC through Flow Charts!

Created by
STEM Excellence
This fun an exciting document shows students how easy RobotC programming can be with the use of flow charts. It helps bridge the gap between no knowledge and starting to develop an understanding. This document will take you through a week of programming. With the enrichment I usually go a full two weeks on this document and build a test bed that the students can work with. This will give your students a great foundation with VEX robotics.

This is a powerpoint that I love to give to students when I introduce them into RobotC sensor setup using the motor and sensor setup screens. I fully created it to first introduce the differences between Analog, and Digital sensors. Then, give them actual examples within the program of our to wire these sensor up. I also have an example of what the schematics look like.

This STEM Activity is very fun, easy to accomplish and will really get your students thinking. It is a paper tower challenge. You won't be disappointed. It has an enrichment activity, and is ready to use as soon as you download it. I have done this activity about 20 times in my class with students and for my summer school course and its always a big hit. It also comes complete with a grading rubric.

I have a Pedagogical Content Knowledge map, the actual lesson plan, guided pre-conference questions, and a CoRe template. If you are looking to increase your lessons for the new Common Core standards, and the ratings of excellence please look through and ask any questions that you may have!

This is a filled out CoRe Engineering template. What does is allow to put your thoughts down on paper and show this information to your administrator during an observation. For those of you looking for excellence, this would be a great way to achieve that. You can use this for any topic in your class, this one is specifically for engineering a bridge design.

If you are looking for a great item to bring to your classroom observation to show your administrator how you think about teaching engineering this document shows just that. This item is called a pedagogical content knowledge map. It shows the administrators how you think and is really impressive when you discuss your thoughts on paper and are able to have this conversation during an observation. One more way to show that you are an excellent teacher!

I was at a conference and this was one of the topics discussed. Students learn so much everyday, yet when they go home they do not know how to explain to their mom and dad what they learn. I have found out that worksheet really engages students in a way that it helps them put their thoughts down on paper. I have received many parent emails on how much they love this idea!
