I have been teaching 5th grade for over 10 years, and loving every minute of it!
Teaching style
I love for students to be in charge of their learning, so I try to set up my classroom in a way that is conducive to that goal. In the end, I believe that if I can instill a love of learning in my students, then I have done my job.
Awards & shining teacher moments
In 2014, I won teacher of the year at my middle school. It was such an honor, because I have many amazing colleagues. The best part was my students made a music video to honor the occasion--so fun! Then, in 2022, I was a finalist for teacher of the year for my school district. I am lucky to have worked with such amazing students and colleagues over the years.

I have my B.S. in Biology from the University of Puget Sound
Additional biographical information
I love to travel with my wonderful husband. We have lived in the Pacific Northwest, Texas, and now in the mid-Atlantic. I call my husband the goose, and he calls me the stork--so that's why I am the STEM Stork :)
