I plan on posting the lesson's "Big Question" each morning, discussing the question at the start of math, and then at the end of the lesson discuss the answer, or have the students write their answer in their math notebooks. The "Units" are grouped with similar chapters from the program together. Our district took the 12 chapters and made them into 6 units. **Unit 1 is Chapters 1 and 2 together.**

Each day my students have journal writing time. I allow them 10-15 in the beginning of the year and the time extends as they become more fluent writers. In this time the students are asked to read the prompt and create a story, or responsive answer. We take time to share out if the students would like. I usually share 3 each day. We also use our journal writing to work on specific skills. I hope your class enjoy these. I know my students love them!

I use this PowerPoint review game to get ready for a test. The children use their whiteboards to solve the problem. Then, they hide their answer by turning their board against them, and then show their answer when I prompt them to. It's fun and they love writing on their whiteboards. Helps them see what they need to practice more at home.
