Ever have a conference with a parent and then a week later they email you about something you spoke about in the conference because they want to make sure they follow through? This document helps that! This editable form allows you to do a quick summary of your student(s) while verifying that the parent has a copy as well! Simply download, edit, and print two copies so the parent can have a copy and you can have a copy. Listed as orchestra but could work for multiple ensemble settings!
I've used this in the past to help students have a physical representation of what to practice each week. This is great for rotating schedule or fixed schedules.
I've left it editable so you can fit it to your needs!
Looking for a way to quickly teach your string students a song when they struggle with reading notation? Here is a fun holiday song written by rote so that's not an issue and you can help them feel as successful as possible during a performance! Happy performing!
Looking for a little friendly competition in your classroom to get students working harder at note reading? Try this fun game of Around the World! All cards include three staves: Treble, Alto, and Bass clefs. This allows for a heterogenous game in the classroom rather than being stuck with one instrument (especially if you find yourself with only 1-2 of a specific instrument). Follow the directions below and have a blast seeing who can make it all the way around the world! Directions: Print out

Trying to find a way to show your students how rhythms work and so far nothing has helped? Have you tried showing them as fractions? I hadn't either but I'm finding it successful! Enjoy!
Having a hard time giving students pitch references with your piano through your video call platform? Try this out! Share your screen and sound. Hit present and click away for all the piano action!
This is great for your students to start out with when reading music is still a challenge. Especially if they are a reading a clef they do not learn in general music class. All instruments are on one page so you don't have to print a specific number of each. Just print the total you need and have a student hand them out!

Matching games don't have to be all fun and games, but it helps! Set your students up with this music staff version of Memory Matching to help prepare them for note reading moving forward! Directions:Decide if you’d like to print in color or black and white. If color, print slides 2 and 3 back to back.If black and white, print slides 5 and 6 back to back.Print at least two sets per group of students (I suggest 4).I recommend 2-3 students per group but that’s all up to you!!Students mix up the car

If you're working through Essential Elements Book 1 with your beginning orchestra students, this is a great check list for them to get through Orchestra Karate at their own speed. This is a different list that I've used and has worked well when I didn't have access to Suzuki songs. Instructions:Students are given some class time to work individually on earning their karate belts (I use ribbon that's usually 50¢ at the craft store, but you could use yarn or colorful stickers too!)Students have to

Experience
I'm a beginning orchestra teacher that teaches in five different elementary schools. I've always been a fan of making things for my students that will help them succeed, so I've decided to put my skills to the test. :)
Teaching style
I'm goofy and strict all at the same time which actually makes for a strong group of musicians after their first year of playing. Plus, they're ready for the world of middle school sarcasm and college readiness.
Awards & shining teacher moments
I'm still amazed I get to do what I love every day! Students have more knowledge than you ever expect of them and tend to lead teachers to new paths.
My own education history
Bachelor of Music Education K-12
Master of Arts in Music Education K-12
Additional biographical information
I have a kitten named Peach who is one year old! I love to play kickball and try new food! I enjoy traveling to places I've never been (and the same places more than once).
