This simple checklist is perfect for an upper elementary or middle school parent/teacher conference. Three categories help break down the strengths, concerns and ways to offer support to the parent. I modified it from something I found online and used it in all my conferences as a starting point with parents.

A very simple, kid-friendly, teacher friendly checklist to make sure the students are on the right track during the middle of writing an information piece on animals. I used this to simply check in on my writers as we were going. The categories are broken down based on her 4th grade unit of study terms, but could be adapted for 3rd or 5th. It's based off the rubric for narrative writing, but is written in a kid-friendly language. This will be used in conjunction with a unit on astronomy in a 3rd-6th grade classroom. It includes the instructions for each part of the project as well as a scoring guideline checklist. Teach the words supply, demand, needs and sale--very basic economic terms for 2nd-4th graders. Taking the hit song "Old Town Road" by Lil Nas X, I wrote a song to teach the 5 layers of the atmosphere. This is not an in depth study of the layers, but rather, a way to support students in memorizing the layers with short blurbs about each layer. On the last page I found a graphic of the 5 layers, I did not create that page and included the website for more information.
