This is a simple lesson plan to incorporate Katmai National Park's Fat Bear week celebration. I use this lesson to inject some fun, connect with students, and to sneak in a little wildlife learning along the way. This resource is updated yearly as explore.org and Katmai National Park release their Fat Bear competition brackets. The resource provides lesson ideas and class sign up sheets so students can "claim" their bear in the line up.
This quick assignment works well to introduce or follow a class showing of the Temple Grandin Film. It prompts students to access Ms. Grandin's Research website and dig a little deeper into her work while providing a graphic organizer for how to write annotated citations.
