Earth is like an apple...
This activity is designed to help students comprehend and compare the layers of the earth. This activity is typically used as an introduction to the unit on the lithosphere. I usually perform a live demonstration of cutting the apple in half so the class can visualize the layers inside and compare this to the unseen layers of the earth. The students then work with the table partners to complete the written analogy.
