Students can practice writing mixed numbers on a number line by playing a game with their partner. Students roll a die to create a mixed number and then practice writing it on a number line. If students create an equivalent fraction, the game is complete. Works best if paper is laminated or placed in a sheet protector.
Students use different color crayons to draw lines that are a certain length. They practice their skills on creating mixed numbers with a number line.

This document lists steps for students to follow when converting improper fractions into mixed numbers. The teacher can create an example for the students or the students can complete it on their own. This is a great activity to have students glue into their notebooks.
