Go Math has many workbook pages, but I felt the need to create my own worksheets that better explained the concepts in a simpler form and that had multiple worksheets of the same concept. I would usually do one in small group, assign another one for independent seat work, and then a third one for homework. They all look the same so the students know exactly what to do.
Here is a collection of worksheets that I created for Chapter 1 of Go Math! This set includes:
* Estimating Sums
* Mental Ma
This is a short story to be used on the first day or week of school. In the story, the monster is doing a lot of bad things. It's a great way to get students thinking about why rules are important and then to come up with some classroom rules together.
This is a handbook that I pass out to all of my parents at Curriculum Night. It contains all of my classroom policies and procedures such as:
* Classroom rules
* Homework Policy
* Bathroom Policy
* Important dates
* Discipline procedure
* Grading Scale
These are just some of the things that are in this handbook. It is saved as a word document so that you may go in and change things to fit your classroom.
I use this as morning work every day. I have a word of the week posted in my room. On Monday the students write the word, the definition of the word, and an illustration. On Tuesday, the students rewrite the word, the part of speech of the word, how many syllables it has, how many consonant letters it has, and how many vowels it has. On Wednesday, they rewrite the word, give rhyming words, an antonym and a synonym of the word. On Thursday, they rewrite the word, and then they look it up in
I use poems all the time in my classroom! I have a poetry station where the students read the poem first and then complete the activities on the back side. Usually the poems have grammar practice as one of the activities. Sometimes I will use reading strategies as well such as making connections, cause and effect, inference, etc.
Here is a preview of what's to come! Enjoy!
Here is what I use to plan my guided reading lessons. Each group has a different one that I place in a notebook with all the materials I need for the week.
This is a form to hand out to your student's parents the first day/week of school. It asks for all their important contact info as well as some questions to help you get better acquainted with their child.

This is a poem about the first day of school and all the things that could go wrong. Students then create their own "What if..." poems about the first day of school.
Do you ever wonder where another classroom is? Or is there someone looking for your class? Well then, you are in the right place! These are 12 different signs to hang on the outside of your door to tell people where your class is at. Just print, cut, and laminate! I put the signs on a ring and hung it on a command strip outside my door. The office has told me how much they appreciate me having it because it makes their job a whole lot easier!
