Students use a balance and objects to represent numbers. Students can use number cards and then count out that many objects to place on the balance. Students then compare the numbers.
Workmats to practice number lines, ten frames, using manipulatives, and drawing out to solve problems (subtraction and addition). Some mats allow students to use two different strategies and compare how both strategies help the student come to the same answer. Laminate or slide into protective sheets and use dry erase markers!

Hands-on activities…students learning through exploration and when there are clear connections. Making sure students aren't taught in isolation is important - everything connects.
